Join Cultural Keys (and a whole lot of other Brit-linked businesses) for a momentous day for Britain in October beginning with B… no not that one!
It’s the BEST OF BRITISH Festival 2019!!!
What is the Best of British Festival?
The Best of British Festival is an annual event aimed at raising awareness of entrepreneurs, innovators, small enterprises and charities with links to the UK… to highlight British products and services, and celebrate the success that small British businesses are finding in China! There will be afternoon tea, fish and chips, bangers and mash and Indian food, entertainment, a raffle every 2 hours and a panel discussion on doing business in China!
Everyone is welcome at this event – no matter where you are from or which side of the Great British Debate you are on! So join us for this celebration of Britain in China, and let’s make community, success and inclusiveness the key themes of this great event!
What are the details?
Best of British Festival is on October 13th 11am – 5pm in the beautiful garden of the Ritz-Carlton Beijing at Dawanglu. It is completely free to attend, no reservations needed!
What can I do there?
Browse the stalls of British entrepreneurs (or other nationalities selling British products) and charities. These include a large variety of product and service vendors: handicrafts, snacks and beverages, jewellery, toys, education services, a fortune teller* and more! Don’t forget your cloth bags as vendors will not be supplying disposable bags at this event!
*If you’d like a tea-leaf reading from AJ Donnelly, please book in advance by adding him on WeChat: AJDonnelly.
Support the attending charitable organisations, all founded by Brits and doing fantastic and much-needed work in Beijing! The British Club of Beijing; Migrant Children’s Foundation; Jane Goodall’s Roots and Shoots and Roundabout.
Eat mightily scrumptious foods from Crafters (beer, sausages & bangers ‘n’ mash); Parwaaz (Indian cuisine); Brit-themed cupcakes from Cake and Cupcakes by Rashmi; Spatula (fresh salmon); the Ritz-Carlton (fish ‘n’ chips, afternoon tea, sausage rolls). Please don’t forget to bring your own spoon or fork and tupperware box for food so we can reduce waste!
Talk to British entrepreneurs about Brits doing business here in China, and the challenges and opportunities they’ve faced, either on their stalls or at our panel discussion at 3pm. Our guests are: Alistair Warwick-Nelson, founder of the European Etiquette Academy; Joyce Connell, Managing Director of Insight Education, Ray Kelly from BlueStar AMG and Nura Demu, co-founder of Sista Sista. Together with Kiran Patel from the China-Britain Business Council they’ll be discussing the challenges and opportunities for British businesses in China.
Be entertained! We’ll have a dance performance from Beijing Hip Hop, a talk from Joe at THE BULK HOUSE, a kung fu display from Cultural Keys, raffle draws at 1pm, 3pm and 5pm… and a certain iconic Englishman (not Boris!) will be doing the rounds of the event too; see if you can spot him! The kids can try their hand at Chinese calligraphy, take part in a painting competition, decorate cupcakes and paint Rabbit Gods, or have their faces painted!
Attend workshops – in kung fu, British tea culture, and calligraphy!
