The dragon boat festival (端午节 duān wǔ jié) is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month in the Chinese lunar calendar (June 22nd in 2023).  But what is it, where does it originate, and how is it celebrated? Find out the answers to these questions and spend a fun afternoon doing festival themed activities at our workshop!

Join Cultural Keys on June 17th to celebrate Dragon Boat Festival! At this festival celebration, you’ll learn about the history and customs of the festival. Then you’ll make zongzi (steamed sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves) and while the zongzi steam you’ll paint dragons under the guidance of an expert painter. There will also be other festival-themed craft activities for the kids. We’ll finish up by enjoying our steamed zongzi together!

Date: June 17th 2023
Time: 2-5pm
Location: CK Culture Centre, Songzhuang, Tongzhou District
Places: Maximum 10 people per session
Payment: Prepayment via WeChat, AliPay, PayPal (no PayPal account required) or bank transfer. Fapiao available on request.
Price: Adults 388RMB; children 348RMB.

Price includes snacks, drinks, introductory presentation and all the required materials for zongzi and painting.

2pm: Arrive and welcome
2.10pm: Presentation: Introduction to the festival
2.30pm: Make zongzi
3pm: Paint dragons (crafts for the kids if they prefer)
4.45pm: Enjoy our zongzi!

About Cultural Keys’ Workshops

CK Culture Workshops are held at our culture centre in Xiaopu Village, Songzhuang and limited to 10 people, to ensure each attendee gets full attention from the teacher. No previous knowledge or experience is necessary to take part in our workshops. At the end, you will be able to take your creation home with you!
