Celebration: Qixi, Chinese Valentine’s Day
At Qixi, according to legend, parted lovers Niu Lang and Zhi Nv have their yearly rendezvous in the heavens on a bridge of magpies. This festival was traditionally celebrated by young women, who would make offerings to Zhi Nv, a weaver, praying to acquire high skills in needlecraft, as well as hoping to find suitable husbands. It falls on August 22nd and while it’s not an official holiday in China, you can celebrate it with traditional activities with Cultural Keys!

Join Cultural Keys on August 19th to celebrate Qixi, Chinese Valentine’s Day! At this festival celebration, you’ll learn about the history and customs of the festival. Then you’ll make qiaoguo (a type of sweet bread traditionally made on the festival) and while it bakes you’ll paint magpies under the guidance of an expert painter and listen to some Chinese love stories.

Time: 2-5pm
Location: CK Culture Centre, Songzhuang, Tongzhou District
Places: Maximum 10 people per session
Payment: Prepayment via WeChat, AliPay, PayPal (no PayPal account required) or bank transfer. Fapiao available on request.
Price: Adults 388RMB.
Price includes snacks, drinks, introductory presentation and all the required materials for qiaoguo and painting.

About Cultural Keys’ Workshops
CK Culture Workshops are held at our culture centre in Xiaopu Village, Songzhuang and limited to 10 people, to ensure each attendee gets full attention from the teacher. No previous knowledge or experience is necessary to take part in our workshops. At the end, you will be able to take your creation home with you!
