On the eighth day of the fourth month of the lunar calendar (May 12th in 2019), Buddhists in China celebrate Buddha’s birthday, Fódàn (佛誕). It is a public holiday in Hong Kong and Macau. The festival is celebrated across the Buddhist world on different days.

Happy Lunar New Year from Cultural Keys!

The Year of the Dog was a long year of familiar patterns set to a frenetic pace, perfectly encapsulating the energy of the Dog. And that applied to the progress of Cultural Keys as much as it did the rest of the world.
As we are now halfway through this years’ Spring Festival celebrations, we wanted to take a quick look at some of the successes of the past year and what CK got up to while giving thanks to everyone who joined us for each of those important moments!
I see Fu! China’s luckiest word!
At Spring Festival there are many ways to decorate, but one of the most common is to paste the character ‘fu’, 福, on doors and windows (facing outwards to keep bad luck away and bring good luck to the home). There is evidence that this custom dates back to the Song dynasty (AD 960 – 1279).
