#GetCultured with fun activities from Cultural Keys in May!

In May we’ve got four exciting events coming up for your enjoyment! This month’s presentation is on Traditional Chinese Ink Painting. At CK we’ve often mentioned how underappreciated Beijing’s neighbour to the south is, and we are excited to be able to introduce more people to Tianjin through two guided walks to help you explore! And finally we’ll have a traditional Chinese calligraphy workshop.

Need more oxen in your life? Enjoy Lunar New Year-inspired art at NAMOC!

The National Art Museum of China (NAMOC) is holding an exhibition to celebrate Spring Festival. Alongside paintings, sculptures and paper cuttings of oxen, you can also appreciate paintings on the theme of spring and vitality by both Chinese and international artists including Ansel Adams, David Hockney and Qi Baishi.

Cultural Treasures of China – Shadow Play

Shadow play (影戏 yǐngxì), also known as shadow puppetry, is a traditional type of entertainment in China. Flat leather puppets, manipulated by sticks, are held up against a screen with a light behind them. Accompanied by music, song and dialogue, they tell a story. What are the origins of this fascinating art form? And why did it become so popular in China?
