Traditional Ping Opera: Flowers as Matchmakers 传统评剧《花为媒》

Originating from Hebei province, Pingju or Ping Opera combines the tunes of Peking opera, Hebei Clapper Opera and drum melody to form its own style. Beijing Opera: Generals of the Yang Family《杨家将》

The generals of the Yang family, its female generals in particular, played a heroic role in the Song-Khitan wars of the late 10th and early 11th centuries. Three monks, a famous masterpiece in the children’s drama, perfectly combines traditional Chinese stories and contemporary aesthetics. The body language of the actors is mainly used as a narrative strategy, combining modern dancing, opera styles and martial arts elements with dazzling stage effects.

Peking Opera: Lady Mu Guiying Takes Command 京剧展演《穆桂英挂帅》

When the lord of Western Xia starts a rebellion, the 50-year-old female general Mu Guiying takes command of the troops. Lady Mu is a legendary heroine from ancient China’s Northern Song Dynasty, and this is one of the most famous Beijing Opera stories.
