You know autumn is approaching when mooncakes start appearing in the shops! But do you know why moon cakes are eaten at the Mid-Autumn Festival? Would you like to learn more about the festival? Would you like to get together with friends or colleagues to celebrate? Join us for our Mid-Autumn Festival celebration or create your own custom event for family, friends or colleagues! Read on to find out more!
– Public Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration –
During this event you’ll learn all about the festival during a presentation given by a native speaker, try lots of different flavours of mooncake in a fun blind taste test, paint lanterns with an expert painter, and top it all off with a dumpling dinner!
The price includes all materials and dinner. This event is suitable for both adults and kids!
Date: September 19th 2021
Time: 2-6pm
Location: CK Culture Centre, Songzhuang, Tongzhou District
Places: Maximum 10 people
Price: 258RMB (kids 8 to 14 years old 158RMB)
Payment: Prepayment via WeChat, AliPay, PayPal (no PayPal account required) or bank transfer. Fapiao available on request.

During the event we’ll paint paper lanterns under the guidance of an expert painter
Our events are held at our culture centre in Xiaopu Village and limited to 10 people, to ensure each attendee gets full attention from the teacher. At the end of the workshop, you will be able to take your creations home with you.

Example Mid-Autumn Celebration 1:
- Presentation on the history and culture of the Mid-Autumn Festival, given in both English and Chinese – 15 minutes
- Lantern painting workshop – given by a local traditional ink painter with translation into English – 1 hour 45 minutes
- Mooncake tasting competition – Groups will blind taste various mooncakes, and will have to guess the ingredients. The team with the most points will win a small gift at the end – 30 minutes
Total Time – 2 hours 30 minutes
Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration 2:
- Presentation on the history and culture of the Mid-Autumn Festival, given in both English and Chinese – 30 minutes
- Dough Figurine Workshop – participants will learn how to make a Chang’e figurine in dough, taught by a local traditional folk artist with translation into English – 1 hour
- Chinese Dice game – Participants will learn a traditional mid-autumn festival game – 20-30 minutes
- Mooncake tasting competition – Groups will taste various mooncakes, and will have to guess the ingredients. The team with the most points will win a small gift at the end – 30 minutes
Total Time – 2 hours 30 minutes
Event itineraries are all approximate and may change depending on the number of people in your group and the venue. Groups under 10 people are welcome to the CK Culture Centre in Tongzhou; for larger groups we are happy to recommend a venue or use your own.
