Photos from our recent Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Workshop!

Last week Cultural Keys was pleased to welcome Wen Meng Xin from China News to our culture centre! Wen Meng Xin spent the day with us learning about what we do, as well as interviewing our co-founder AJ Donnelly. We also held a free calligraphy and painting class so she could get footage of some typical events.

See some pictures of the event below!

Meng Xin interviewed AJ about his time in China and why he started Cultural Keys
Presentations on calligraphy and painting at the start of each section

The phrase the participants learned to write was 心想事成 meaning ‘may your wishes come true’.
Teacher Li Kaiping taught participants how to paint bamboo
Bamboo is an important symbol of longevity, uprightness, honour and flexibility in Chinese culture

Many thanks to Paul, Ross and Abbey for joining us for this special class, and Meng Xin for spending the day getting to know us!

We will be having more free Chinese culture workshops coming up soon. What would you like to learn with Cultural Keys? Let us know in the comments below. We always love hearing your thoughts and insights!
