The exhibition uses digital technology to activate traditional culture, launching an immersive light and shadow show co-founded with the Forbidden City Phoenix Technology, breaks the barriers of time and space, innovatively develops and creatively interprets national treasure-level cultural relics, and shows off the charm of Chinese cultural treasures. This is a high-quality cultural and artistic experience integrating sight, hearing and touch.

Zen Master Yinyuan was a famous monk in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. He traveled to Japan in 1654 to spread the Dharma, created the Japanese Huangbo sect, spread Chinese culture, and was an example of Sino-Japanese friendly exchange. This exhibition brings together more than 90 works of calligraphy, painting and hand scrolls by Yin Yuan and his teacher Fei Yin, his disciples Muan and Jifei as well as Yueshan, Gaoquan, Donggao and other Zen monks. Also included are ‘Statue of Zen Master’, Ming Dynasty furniture, Zen tools, stationery and other treasures brought by Zen Master Yinyuan to Wanfu Temple in Huangbo Mountain, Fuqing.

The classical play The Story of the West Chamber is a form of opera called zaju, a synthesis of recitations of prose and poetry, dance, singing, and mime, with an emphasis on comedy or happy endings. The New Romance of the West Chamber is a play that pays homage to The Story of the West Chamber, and is a poetic, contemporary expression of the original.
