Cultural Activities in Beijing this February

We are facing difficult times at the moment in China. People are worried about getting sick, and transportation and daily life is being disrupted. Despite this, life does still have to go on. February 8th – Lantern Festival Celebration – Cultural Keys

Update: Due to the ongoing situation, village officials have asked us not to held any events at the culture centre until further notice. As a result, this event will now be held at a later date. 

In 2020, the Lantern Festival (Yuánxiāo jié 元宵节)falls on February 8th, the fifteenth and final day of Spring Festival. Although it’s not a public holiday, it is still widely celebrated, especially in southern China and amongst the diaspora. What’s this holiday all about and how can you celebrate it?

February 29th – TCM Introduction Presentation – Guoyihui TCM Clinic

Update: Now rescheduled for April 16th. 

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is one of the world’s oldest forms of medicine, said to date back 3,500 years.  A holistic form of medicine, it focuses on disharmony within the body, and seeks to restore the natural balance through a variety of treatments including herbal medicine, acupuncture, cupping, massage, exercise and diet. 

 Join Cultural Keys and Guo Yi Hui TCM Center for a talk on the history, styles and applications of TCM!

Time: February 27th April 16th 2020, 10am-12pm

Throughout the whole of February – Book a cooking class with Black Sesame Kitchen

Private classes at the Black Sesame Kitchen are tailored to the guest – the individual or group may choose from one menu from the class offerings or mix and match any three stir-fry dishes from the menus. Any dietary restrictions or allergies can be catered for. All classes feature an in-depth hands-on experience, a low staff-to-student ratio, and information on how to stock your Chinese pantry.

When: Based on availability, possible start times as early as 9:30am. Must end by 4:30pm.
Duration: 2.5 hours
More Details: Guests also receive a complimentary apron, tea, soft drinks, and Tsingtao beer.
